Easter is Early

Yesterday–

The predictions of snow
filled conversations
“Six to eight inches,” they said.
“With freezing rain thrown in
just to make things interesting.”

Only a couple of inches on the
car when I left this morning.
More snow coming, though,
won’t stop until afternoon.
At least, that’s what ‘they’ said.

And, so it continued,
even again,
for most of today…

It’s more lament than complaint,
a simple sign of impatience–
more sigh than gasp–
more existential inconvenience
than semblance of dread.
Winter’s days are numbered!

Sunshine and warmth will
arrive in due course.
Easter is early this year;
Easter is early!

For now we can see that
the darks days of Lent
and the last days of winter
are being dragged
towards the early Easter
sunshine.

  1. Dearest Ray -

For some reason, your latest posts (since Prayer: Week 4) did not surface until just the past few days on my computer. That’s happened before for me with your blog, so don’t know what to make of it.

Also, I was out all last week hospitalized and bedfast because of yet another, this time very major, medical/health complication from being diabetic 38 years. Please pray for me in this, as it has been a very difficult week since I’ve been home and I don’t see much chance (right now) of much, if any, improvement for the rest of my life.

Meanwhile, I’m planning on entering some non-fiction pieces in a local writing contest, Lord willing, and would appreciate your critique and thoughts on the first piece that I posted to my blog today.

I love this blog post of yours, by the way! I’m SO happy that today is the first day of spring and look forward to the upcoming days and weeks. While I was in the hospital last week, it seemed to turn from winter to spring in just the five long days and nights I was in there.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Much love,

    Dee
