NaNoWriMo Plans

with 2 comments

I’m working on ideas for a novel for next month’s NaNoWriMo.

The novel may consist of an expansion of posts from this blog. Maybe this one, only longer.

Or, this one.

I’m also thinking about my characters.

And My plot.

But, I can’t use any of the words I’ve already written. By November 30, I hope to have a 50,000 word novel written. That’s approximately 1,700 words a day.

I’ll be posting excerpts. Stay tuned.

  1. I went back and read or re-read all of your links to previous posts and think you have an abundance of materials to work with, Ray. I can’t wait to read your excerpts and see how well you do.

I just DO NOT have a gift for fiction writing. I wish I did. You and Patrick Mead are both very gifted fiction (and non-fiction) writers. Do you read and/or keep up with Patrick’s two blogs? I think you would really like them – they’re great.

Best wishes to you in this effort!

  2. Thanks, Dee, for your encouragement.

You’re a fine writer and do have the skills to write fiction. The skills required to write a personal essay are the same as those required to write fiction. I guess the difference is in where you obtain your material and whether or not your material is “true.”

I’ve not visited Patrick’s blogs since last spring. I’ll need to revisit.
